Is AHIP Required?

No

What is the Cost of AHIP?

It costs the standard $175 fee. Highmark does not offer AHIP at a discounted rate.

Can AHIP Be Used for Compliance Credit?

Yes. AHIP training certification will be accepted as fulfillment of the Medicare Basics, Marketing, and Enrollment modules.

Does Carrier Reimburse for AHIP?

No. Highmark does not offer AHIP at a discounted rate. However, a free AHIP alternative is offered on the Medicare Sales Sentinel website.

Certification Requirements:

Certification must be done in its entirety* each year. Certifying in the past does not change the process for certifying now. All agents must complete all steps.

*Medigap certification is required, only if you wish to sell the Highmark Medigap plans

How Do I Retrieve My Username and Password?

Your username is generally your Social Security number. You can click on the “Forgot Your Password?” link to retrieve your password. If you are unable to access the portal, or if you have any portal issues, you must contact Sales Sentinel Support at 855-264-9664.

Who Do I Contact at Carrier to Confirm Certification?

You can contact Gorman Health Group at 1-888-439-3337. They can be reached Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET. If you need further assistance in confirming your certification, you can contact Ritter’s Broker Support Unit at 800-769-1847 ext. 902.

Submitting Business

Information Regarding Scope of Appointment:

Highmark requires a Scope of Appointment (SOA) to be transmitted with enrollments. They prefer that agents use their branded SOA, but they do not require it. They will also accept a generic, CMS-approved SOA or another carrier’s branded SOA.

You can obtain a copy of the Highmark SOA on their Producer Portal.

How to Submit Business with Highmark:

  • Fax: 1-888-663-0258
    • Highmark doesn’t require the use of a transmittal or special cover sheet.
    • When faxing applications, please make sure to include the SOA.
    • Key application into the company portal (not required)
  • Online enrollment:
    • In order to use this option, you must be sitting with your client. Additionally, you need to have a Producer Portal user name and password to use this service.
    • Go to https://producer.highmark.com and then select the the “enroll” option.
    • You can upload the SOA on the Highmark Producer Portal.

Commissions

Agent commissions are paid on a monthly basis. There are prescribed commission levels. Additionally, there are no production requirements for agent-level contracting

How to Order Supplies for Highmark:

Online Instructions:

  1. Navigate to the Highmark Producer Portal.
  2. Go to “New Business” and select “Medicare.”
  3. Choose “Enrollment Kits Supplies.”
  4. Choose “shopPRO” to order enrollment kits and customize CMS-approved marketing materials.
  5. Select “2015 Enrollment Kits” to order customized, print-on-demand enrollment kits.
  6. Choose the appropriate region (if applicable).
  7. Select the product for which you would like to order kits (hover over kit image to view applicable counties).
  8. Customize the kit with sender or recipient information or select “No Customization” if you wish to order in bulk.
  9. Verify the number of copies and shipping address before placing your order.
